morning mist

The name of this pattern fits it to a tee: quiet peaceful serene. Knitted in one of my favorite summer yarns, Hempathy, it was the perfect beach take along project. The only thing that caused just a tiny bit of angst was my decision to pass on the fun color block effect. Even now, I can't believe that I let a chance to play with colors slip by! Oh well, there's always the next one. I would totally knit this well-written pattern again.

Have you ever regretted a color choice for a project? What did you end up doing? Although the off-white color is ho-hum boring, it does show off that pretty lace pattern rather well.

I think that this simple top will get worn quite a bit during the warmer months.

  1. Although you might feel like it was a missed opportunity in hindsight, I think you can never play it too safe when it comes to colours, because in the end it's the more basic colours that get the most wear (at least in my experience!). I've made one skirt in some adventurous green and yellow colour and even though I liked the finished project, it spends most time in my wardrobe. So I think I wish I made it in a safer colour so I'd feel that I could wear it all the time.

  2. It is beautiful!!! I have indeed regretted a color choice and you know, I haven't done anything with it. I tell myself one day I will overdye it but the truth is it will remain stuffed in a drawer for eternity.

  3. Yes, I have knit an entire sweater in a fiery red that is so not me, and the yarn was not that great too. On the plus side, frogging is always an option. But for this tee, I think you have nothing to worry about. The neutral cream will go with everything, and I'm sure it will become a basic in your summer wardrobe. My favorite knit from last summer is a black tee in a cotton and bamboo blend that I wear all the time, because it just goes with everything, a dressy skirt or a boyfriend denim. Your lovely lace tee can be dressed up or down as well.

  5. Like you said, you can always knit another one, but I think you're going to get plenty of wear from this. A neutral white top goes with everything, and I think the lace adds enough interest to make it fun, even if it's not color blocked. It really does look amazing on you!

  8. I think the color's just fine. I finished a cream shawl today. I chose cream because sometimes you just need a neutral! I just can't believe I never knit with cream before.

  10. it looks amazing! if I knit something in a colour I regret I either grin and bear it, rip it out, or turn it into a gift (very cheeky I know!) I will be adding this pattern to my ever growing queue though on Ravelry I would love to give it a try, and the colour you've gone for does show the pattern beauifully and will be easy to wear :) jenny xx

  11. I love it! Even in one color it's so lovely, plus it will go with so much. It's always nice to have a nice neutral like that in the closet. :)

  12. It's absolutely beautiful. The back lace detail is so nice. The neutral color really will go with anything and that in itself is pretty exciting. :) Seriously, it's a boutique piece.

  14. Sometimes I wish I would have knit an item in another color, but still don't regret my original color choice. The brilliant thing is that if we like, we can knit a project as many times as we like in as many colors we desire. Not regrets. :)
    Your Morning Mist looks stunning!
