summer traditions

yes, I started another blanket...more details coming soon!

It wouldn't truly be summer without our annual seaside holiday. There is something to be said about little traditions that stay with you year after year: eating at our favorite off-the-beaten track food joints, making sand castles and knitting at the same lovely uncrowded stretches of beach, resting our heads at night and waking up to beautiful sunrises from a familiar spot. It's always bittersweet to leave but there's a reassuring knowledge that we will be making the same trek next summer. Is there a summer tradition that you look forward to year after year?

How lovely to have this tradition, Tien. Do you stay on the east coast? The beach looks so clean and I can hear the soothing waves. Our summer is slightly different year to year; it just depends. I do look forward to sleeping in. Have yet to do that since the tween is finishing up session two of her math class. But this summer we've been trying out local eateries. I have used bookstores marked for checking out too.

    1. Yes, it's a beautiful stretch of ocean in Maryland about 2 hours from us.

  2. That sounds like a lovely summer tradition! I don't really have any summer traditions actually, maybe it's time to start one :)

  3. the beach has always been our idea of 'summer' too, although now living so far inland we only get there every other year. BUT THIS IS OUR YEAR!!! We're making piles and lists already...part of the fun. We go to a rather uncrowded NC beach....although not as quiet and private as yours obviously is. Jealous!!! So glad you've had a wonderful 'tradition' once again!

  4. That looks like an ideal spot to get away! No summer traditions here...we tend to vacation in the Fall and Spring.

  5. I Love that area of the Atlantic. My family and I use to vacation in Ocean City before the crowds came. I miss that. Pretty blanket.

  7. Our beach trip is just a few weeks away!!! I can't wait. But no knitting on the beach. Florida is too hot and the sand is not welcome in my knitting bag.
