Grey Day

Today was my unofficial "pre-holiday kick back and relax day". So after throwing putting the little guy on the bus, I made myself a big mug of coffee, sat in my favorite chair and knitted away on some new projects.

The first one is a simple slouchy rib hat using two strands of Berroco Ultra Alpaca held together and number 11 needles...in grey.

The second project is my long wished for rustic Sontag style shawl...in grey.

the first casualty of the season

Grey seems to be my go-to color for this time of year. Its calm soothing undertones seem to fit my need for some sensory relaxation right now. I love the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the cheerful decorations and music, but sometimes a little grey is a good thing.

  1. Aww, poor reindeer ; )
I think a good gray is one of the hardest yarn colours to find. There was recently a thread on ravelry about the people who have the best projects in neutral colours. They were gorgeous! There is something so relaxing about neutrals. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished shawl. It's looking beautiful.

I totally agree- perhaps that's why I ended up buying 2 grey tops last time I went shopping. Hmmmm.

  5. Had to look up Sontag style shawl and you now have my attention! Are you creating your own pattern? Grey is one of my favorite go to neutrals especially since my DH has issued a moratorium on my purchasing my previous favorite go to color...black. You can get some reaaaallllly dark grey things and I still get to say, but it's not technically black!!!

  6. There is something soothing in the color grey. I have never sought it out for knitting, but can see how lovely it makes up. Love the shawl!

  9. Beautiful stuff! I thought it was just me -- I've been adding to my Rav queue lately and *everything* is grey. It's a revolution! Or something. Hope you enjoyed your day!
